Project Brief:
Conceived as a deliberate pairing, Forge & Kiln explores how material expression, scale, and spatial efficiency can be carefully balanced within a suburban infill context. Developed in collaboration with Paque Design + Build, the project comprises two contemporary townhouses that prioritise clarity of form, internal amenity, and long-term liveability.

The design responds through a restrained composition of brick and metal, using material contrast to establish hierarchy and reduce perceived bulk. Brick forms the grounded lower levels, anchoring the dwellings to the site, while lighter metal-clad upper volumes are articulated through setbacks and subtle shifts in plane. Openings are carefully positioned to balance privacy, outlook, and daylight, allowing each townhouse to read as a distinct dwelling while still operating as a cohesive pair.

Internally, the planning emphasises efficient circulation, good solar access, and cross-ventilation. Living spaces are oriented to capture light and outlook, with private outdoor areas integrated as natural extensions of the interiors, translating the brief into a considered response to its suburban setting.
