Location:
OCEAN GROVE Site Area / House: 626m² / 365m² Year: 2019 Builder: PASQUE DESIGN + BUILD Project Brief Designed around a clear and pragmatic client brief, Shorebreak House was intended to be a contemporary dwelling defined by light, clarity, and a relaxed sense of everyday use. The clients were seeking a home that felt open and considered without being overly expressive; where simplicity, proportion, and connection to outdoors shaped the experience of the spaces rather than decorative gestures or imposed style. The layout is organised to fully exploit the site’s favourable northern orientation, which became a primary driver of the design. Living spaces are positioned along the northern edge to capture consistent natural light throughout the day, allowing sunlight to penetrate deep into the interior and define the character of the home. This orientation-led approach ensures the house feels bright and welcoming year-round, without relying on excessive glazing or visual complexity. A restrained material palette and clean, contemporary detailing reinforce the coastal sensibility while prioritising durability and longevity. Neutral tones and simple forms create a cohesive internal environment, allowing light, proportion, and spatial relationships to carry the architectural expression. Indoor and outdoor spaces are closely connected, supporting a relaxed coastal lifestyle and ensuring the house responds naturally to seasonal change. |
